Jednotlivé známky představují opět s malým zestručněním: „1“ vysoce originální výsledek s významným přínosem a konkrétním praktickým uplatněním, „2“ originální výsledek s významným společenským dopadem a velkým aplikačním potenciálem, „3“ výsledek rozvíjející současný stav s prokazatelným společenským dopadem a potenciálem využití, „4“ výsledek bez významného posunu s omezeným společenským dopadem a aplikačním potenciálem a „5“ výsledek bez přínosu a s nepravděpodobným praktickým využitím.
Naše nejbližší fakultní konkurenty FEKT VUT v Brně (1-6-3-0-0), FEL ZČU V Plzni (1-3-6-3-0) a FEI VŠB-TUO v Ostravě (1-4-0-0-2) jsme co do celkového počtu “jedniček” a “dvojek”, i když mírně, předčili.

Dr. Nabil Daghbouj, Ph.D., H.S. Sen, Ph.D., prof. Ing. Tomáš Polcar, Ph.D.: The structural evolution of light-ion implanted 6H-SiC single crystal: Comparison of the effect of helium and hydrogen
The microstructure evolution of hydrogen-implanted 6H-SiC at different temperatures and fluences is investigated by using various experimental techniques. In H-implanted samples with relatively low fluence at RT, dense blister cavities are observed after annealing at 1100 °C, while no visible blister cavities appear after annealing at 1100 °C in the sample implanted at RT with high fluence. The absence of blister cavities is due to the loss of elastic energy during the crystalline-to-amorphous transition. With a further increase of implantation temperature to 450 and 900 °C, amorphization did not occur and H-containing microcracks grew laterally below the surface. Thus, blisters appeared on the surface of the samples implanted at 900 °C even without annealing. The results are compared to the microstructural evolution of He-implanted 6H-SiC which was explored in our previous work. The behavior of hydrogen and helium ions in 6H-SiC lattice was rather different. For He implantation, regardless of the fluence and implantation temperature, blisters did not form. The mechanism of migration and coalescence of nanoscale bubbles that are responsible for blistering were studied via density functional theory calculations, which well-supported the presented results. We found that both mechanisms (migration and coalescence) are energetically cheaper in the case of H compared to He.

A system for controlling device-to-device communication and a method of training a machine learning algorithm are also described.
prof. Ing. Pavel Hazdra, CSc., Ing. Petr Smrkovský, prof. Ing. Jan Vobecký, DrSc.: Radiation Resistance of High-Voltage Silicon and 4H-SiC Power p-i-n Diodes
The different effect of displacement damage produced by neutron irradiation on the static characteristics of 4.5-kV silicon and 4H silicon carbide (SiC) p-i-n power diodes is explained using deep level transient spectroscopy (DLTS), C-V profiling, and open-circuit voltage decay (OCVD) measurements. The number of introduced defects in SiC is higher, also the degradation of carrier lifetime and carrier removal proceeds more swiftly in SiC than those in silicon. However, smaller dimensions and a higher doping level of the n-base of the SiC diode compensate for these negative effects. As a result, the SiC p-i-n diode exhibits substantially higher resistance to neutron irradiation at higher fluences when the diode loses its ON-state carrier modulation capability. SiC also shows a negligible effect of irradiation on leakage current due to the wider bandgap. One may assume a better reliability of SiC bipolar devices over the silicon in a high neutron radiation environment.
Ing. Milan Korda, Ph.D.: Optimal construction of Koopman eigenfunctions for prediction and control
This work presents a novel data-driven framework for constructing eigenfunctions of the Koopman operator geared toward prediction and control. The method leverages the richness of the spectrum of the Koopman operator away from attractors to construct a rich set of eigenfunctions such that the state (or any other observable quantity of interest) is in the span of these eigenfunctions and hence predictable in a linear fashion. The eigenfunction construction is optimization-based with no dictionary selection required. Once a predictor for the uncontrolled part of the system is obtained in this way, the incorporation of control is done through a multi-step prediction error minimization, carried out by a simple linear least-squares regression. The predictor so obtained is in the form of a linear controlled dynamical system and can be readily applied within the Koopman model predictive control framework of [12] to control nonlinear dynamical systems using linear model predictive control tools. The method is entirely data-driven and based purely on convex optimization, with no reliance on neural networks or other non-convex machine learning tools. The novel eigenfunction construction method is also analyzed theoretically, proving rigorously that the family of eigenfunctions obtained is rich enough to span the space of all continuous functions. In addition, the method is extended to construct generalized eigenfunctions that also give rise Koopman invariant subspaces and hence can be used for linear prediction. Detailed numerical examples with code available online demonstrate the approach, both for prediction and feedback control.

We demonstrate halving the record-low loss of interconnection between a nested antiresonant nodeless type hollow-core fiber (NANF) and standard single-mode fiber (SMF). The achieved interconnection loss of 0.15 dB is only 0.07 dB above the theoretically-expected minimum loss. We also optimized the interconnection in terms of unwanted cross-coupling into the higher-order modes of the NANF. We achieved cross-coupling as low as −35 dB into the LP11 mode (the lowest-loss higher-order mode and thus the most important to eliminate). With the help of simulations, we show that the measured LP11 mode coupling is most likely limited by the slightly imperfect symmetry of the manufactured NANF. The coupling cross-talk into the highly-lossy LP02 mode (>2000 dB/km in our fiber) was measured to be below −22 dB. Furthermore, we show experimentally that the anti-reflective coating applied to the interconnect interface reduces the insertion loss by 0.15 dB while simultaneously reducing the back-reflection below −40 dB over a 60 nm bandwidth. Finally, we also demonstrated an alternative mode-field adapter to adapt the mode-field size between SMF and NANF, based on thermally-expanded core fibers. This approach enabled us to achieve an interconnection loss of 0.21 dB and cross-coupling of −35 dB into the LP11 mode.
prof. Ing. Daniel Sýkora, Ph.D.: Interactive Video Stylization Using Few-Shot Patch-Based Training
In this paper, we present a learning-based method to the keyframe-based video stylization that allows an artist to propagate the style from a few selected keyframes to the rest of the sequence. Its key advantage is that the resulting stylization is semantically meaningful, i.e., specific parts of moving objects are stylized according to the artist’s intention. In contrast to previous style transfer techniques, our approach does not require any lengthy pre-training process nor a large training dataset. We demonstrate how to train an appearance translation network from scratch using only a few stylized exemplars while implicitly preserving temporal consistency. This leads to a video stylization framework that supports real-time inference, parallel processing, and random access to an arbitrary output frame. It can also merge the content from multiple keyframes without the need to perform an explicit blending operation. We demonstrate its practical utility in various interactive scenarios, where the user paints over a selected keyframe and sees her style transferred to an existing recorded sequence or a live video stream.
doc. Ing. Jan Rusz, Ph.D., Ing. Tereza Tykalová, Ph.D., Ing. Michal Novotný, Ph.D.: Distinct patterns of speech disorder in early-onset and late-onset de-novo Parkinson’s disease | npj Parkinson’s Disease
Substantial variability and severity of dysarthric patterns across Parkinson’s disease (PD) patients may reflect distinct phenotypic differences. We aimed to compare patterns of speech disorder in early-onset PD (EOPD) and late-onset PD (LOPD) in drug-naive patients at early stages of disease. Speech samples were acquired from a total of 96 participants, including two subgroups of 24 de-novo PD patients and two subgroups of 24 age- and sex-matched young and old healthy controls. The EOPD group included patients with age at onset below 51 (mean 42.6, standard deviation 6.1) years and LOPD group patients with age at onset above 69 (mean 73.9, standard deviation 3.0) years. Quantitative acoustic vocal assessment of 10 unique speech dimensions related to respiration, phonation, articulation, prosody, and speech timing was performed. Despite similar perceptual dysarthria severity in both PD subgroups, EOPD showed weaker inspirations (p = 0.03), while LOPD was characterized by decreased voice quality (p = 0.02) and imprecise consonant articulation (p = 0.03). In addition, age-independent occurrence of monopitch (p < 0.001), monoloudness (p = 0.008), and articulatory decay (p = 0.04) was observed in both PD subgroups. The worsening of consonant articulation was correlated with the severity of axial gait symptoms (r = 0.38, p = 0.008). Speech abnormalities in EOPD and LOPD share common features but also show phenotype-specific characteristics, likely reflecting the influence of aging on the process of neurodegeneration. The distinct pattern of imprecise consonant articulation can be interpreted as an axial motor symptom of PD.

Patterns of speech disorder in Parkinson disease (PD), which are highly variable across individual patients, have not been systematically studied. Our aim was to identify speech subtypes in treatment-naive patients with PD and to examine their response to long-term dopaminergic therapy.
prof. Ing. Jiří Matas, Ph.D.: D3S – A Discriminative Single Shot Segmentation Tracker | IEEE Conference Publication | IEEE Xplore
Template-based discriminative trackers are currently the dominant tracking paradigm due to their robustness, but are restricted to bounding box tracking and a limited range of transformation models, which reduces their localization accuracy. We propose a discriminative single-shot segmentation tracker – D3S, which narrows the gap between visual object tracking and video object segmentation. A single-shot network applies two target models with complementary geometric properties, one invariant to a broad range of transformations, including non-rigid deformations, the other assuming a rigid object to simultaneously achieve high robustness and online target segmentation. Without per-dataset finetuning and trained only for segmentation as the primary output, D3S outperforms all trackers on VOT2016, VOT2018 and GOT-10k benchmarks and performs close to the state-of-the-art trackers on the TrackingNet. D3S outperforms the leading segmentation tracker SiamMask on video segmentation benchmark and performs on par with top video object segmentation algorithms, while running an order of magnitude faster, close to real-time.
